"Do not be scared" means not to be afraid and is a frequently recurring message in the Bible, especially in connection with the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Messiah. The phrase expresses a call to show courage and confidence in the future rather than being guided by fear or suffering, and motivates us to take new paths and live in harmony with God's will.
"Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my right hand." ( Isaiah 41:10 )
"Don't be afraid" sounds so simple, but have you ever been truly afraid? I've had some terrible experiences. Here I'd like to share just one of them.
I'm sure each of you has had a nightmare at some point. About 12 years ago, I woke up drenched in sweat after a terrible dream. I tried to move, but I seemed paralyzed. I couldn't move. Then I felt hands around my neck, squeezing my throat. I looked around. Nothing—no one was to be seen. I wanted to scream, but I couldn't open my mouth. I felt other hands on my body and tried to ward them off. At the same time, I tried to call out. I formed the words, but not a single sound came out of my mouth. "Call upon me in the day of trouble!" (Psalm 50:15 , Psalm 121 ) flashed through my mind. But how? Finally, I began to call out to Yahshua* (Yahweh saves / Jesus) in my mind. "Yahshua" and "Yahshua" again and again. I tried to speak, to whisper, but the hands around my neck and on my mouth prevented any sound. I didn't give up. At some point, I felt that with every mental cry, the grip of my spiritual enemies weakened. Then, finally, a loud cry from the depths of my chest, "Yahshua!" and in an instant, I was free. The relief was immense. The nightmare was over, and I could thank Yahweh and His son from the bottom of my heart.
Many years have passed since then. There have been several occasions when the enemy has tried to keep me from sleeping or to silence me. The Holy Spirit pointed me to the spiritual armor in Ephesians 6. He taught me spiritual warfare, and today I can say that the enemy can only attack me very rarely. The more I was able to assert myself against him and his demons, the stronger my spiritual warfare and my trust in God grew rapidly.
Being free from earthly fears and growing in the fear of the Lord is essential to living in complete shalom (peace) and receiving the wisdom, guidance, and strength of our awesome God.
I learned that not being afraid is a central theme in Jewish thought. At the end of the Jewish Shabbat service, as well as in the daily evening prayer, they recite the following saying:
“YHWH li; lo ira – יְהוָ֣ה לִ֭י לֹ֣א אִירָ֑א:” – “Yahweh is with me; I will not fear.” (Psalm 118:6; also Isaiah 41:10)
God's teaching on fear is a central part of His Holy Scripture.
The Bible mentions fear 400 times. This shows us that God anticipated our tendency toward fear and our need for His reassurance and guidance.
Fear not! (in Hebrew: Al-tirah! אַל־תִּירָא֙) is the most frequently repeated commandment in the Bible, repeated 51 times!
In 2016, after many spiritual attacks, I was baptized again. The pastor chose Psalm 4:9 as my baptismal verse.
“I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.” ( Psalm 4:9 )
My God is Yahweh, and I thank my God that He holds me fast and accompanies me in all situations, strengthens and encourages me. I thank Him for His Son Yahshua, who freed me from the hands of the enemy (Satan). Yahshua is the only one who can show us the way to the Father—Yahweh.
I wish that you, too, learn to control your fear and anxiety of the unknown, the supernatural, and the spiritual with God's help. Turn to God, follow Yeshua/Jesus, keep the commandments, and read the Word of God. Stay courageous and strong, and always remember:
Yahweh promises: “Do not be afraid, I am with you” (Isaiah 41:10).
Amen

Explanation:
* Yahshua means "Yahweh is salvation." It is also the Hebrew/Aramaic name of Jesus. The name is often rendered as Yeshua.
