When the World Is Shaken

Lately, the world feels increasingly unsettled. News reports bring fear, and much is shifting—both outwardly and within us. We are reminded of the words of Yeshua in the Gospel of Matthew:
“You will hear of wars and rumours of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.”(Matthew 24:6–7, NIV)
Distress That Reaches the Heart
We feel pressure on every side. It is not only wars or external threats; our souls are weary. Many feel wounded, fragile, and uncertain. We wait—sometimes quietly, sometimes desperately—for God to intervene.
Psalm 34 – Words That Sustain
Psalm 34 speaks directly into such times. It calls us to praise God even in distress, to trust in His protection, and to live with integrity despite hardship. The psalm reminds us that God is especially close to those who are brokenhearted and crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
It becomes an anchor in turbulent times—assuring us of God’s nearness, care, and deliverance. Rather than fear, we are invited to seek refuge in Him and to experience His goodness.
God is near to the broken.
Learning to Trust Amid Fear
David wrote Psalm 34 after being rescued from great danger. His testimony encourages us to praise God not only after deliverance, but even while waiting. The psalm urges us to lay down fear, to seek peace, and to actively trust in God.
It promises that the Lord hears those who seek Him and delivers them from their fears. Though the righteous may face many troubles, God rescues them from all of them. As expressed in the song “Anchor in Time” (Albert Frey), Jesus remains our hope—steady even in the storm.
When Hope Is Stronger Than What Is Visible
In times of global crisis and human limitation, Scripture reminds us where true hope lies. Jesus says:
“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”(Matthew 19:26)
For Days Like These
The words of Jesus and the promises of the Psalms invite us into a faith shaped by trust, not fear. A faith rooted not in our own strength, but in the certainty that God sustains us.
God remains our anchor.
Let us look to His promises, believe them—and live accordingly.
Where do you need an anchor right now—something to hold you steady?
If you wish, you are welcome to share what is on your heart with me, quietly and without pressure.
