Day 39/40: YHWH, Yeshua, and the Ruach haKodesh – Knowing God, Not Just Knowing About Him

Safe in God's presence – held, protected, and loved.

Many people know something about God. They know stories, concepts, perhaps even Bible

passages. They know stories, concepts, perhaps even Bible passages. Yet God himself invites us not only to knowledge, but into relationship. He doesn't just want to be understood, but to be known – with the heart, not just with the mind.

That is why God reveals himself in the Bible not first through abstract doctrines, but through names. In Hebrew, names convey essence, purpose, and relationship.

They are not merely labels—they are revelation.

YHWH – יהוה – Knowing God as the One Who Is

When God reveals himself in the Bible, he does so not primarily through abstract doctrines, but through names . In Hebrew, names convey essence, purpose, and relationship. They are not merely labels—they are revelation.

The most holy name of God is the so-called Tetragrammaton :

YHWH יהוה

consisting of four letters: Yod – He – Waw – He

He is often rendered as Yahweh or Jehovah . Some pronounce it Yahuwah. The original pronunciation is not definitively known, but the Hebrew sound is softer and more flowing , similar to many Hebrew words that we pronounce today with a harsher sound than they originally did.

This name also contains the short form YAH – a name familiar to us from the word Hallelujah .

Hallelujah means: “Praise YAH!”

There is something deeply personal in this:

God is not just a title. He is not just a concept.

He is someone who can be called upon, praised, and addressed.

When Moses asked God what his name was, God answered:

“I am who I am.” (Exodus 3:14)

That means:

I was.

I am.

I will be.

God is not bound by time. He is not capricious. He is constant .

YHWH is not a distant God. His name means: I am here.

He keeps saying:

"I am with you."

"Do not be afraid."

"I will not leave you."

He is a covenant God . That means: He binds himself. He remains, even when we waver.

The Bible shows us that God carries not only fatherly, but also motherly qualities.

He comforts, gathers, nourishes, and protects.

Not because he is feminine — but because he is the source of all love.

YHWH is not cold.

He is alive.

And he says: I am here – for you too.

Yeshua haMashiach – Knowing God as Savior, King, High Priest and Bridegroom

The name Yeshua (יֵשׁוּעַ) means: “YHWH saves.”

The name itself is a message.

Yeshua was Jewish. He lived among Jewish people. He taught from the Torah – and said he had come to fulfill it, not to abolish it.

As Yeshua haMashiach he is:

The Savior

He saves not only from guilt, but from lostness, fear, and inner captivity.

His salvation reaches all the way to the heart.

He sees not only what we have done—

but who we are.

And who we are meant to become.

The King

But not like the kings of this world.

He rules through love, not coercion.

Through truth, not fear.

His kingdom brings healing, freedom, and restoration.

He does not lift himself up to dominate—

but to raise others up.

The High Priest

Yeshua is not only king – he is also our High Priest .

This means: He stands between God and man.

He does not offer sacrifices – he is the victim himself .

He is not accusing – he is standing up for us .

He doesn't reject – he connects .

As our High Priest, he knows our weakness.

He knows what it's like to be human.

And that's precisely why we can come to him with everything:

with guilt, with questions, with fear, and with hope.

He is not far away.

He is near.

The Groom

This image is one of the deepest in the Bible.

A bridegroom seeks.

A bridegroom woos.

A bridegroom prepares a home.

A bridegroom waits.

The Bible does not end with judgment, but with a wedding: the wedding of the Lamb.

God does not want a distant relationship.

He wants closeness.

Connection.

Community.

Ruach haKodesh – רוח הקודש – Knowing God in His Living Presence

The Spirit of God – living, comforting, creative.

Ruach = Wind, Breath, Spirit

haKodesch = the holy

Together: the holy breath of God

Even in creation, the Ruach hovers over the waters.

The Hebrew word can also mean to brood—like a bird over its eggs.

The Ruach brings life to emptiness.

Bringing order to chaos.

Movement into the frozen.

The feminine grammatical form – and why it matters

In Hebrew, the word Ruach is grammatically feminine .

This does not mean that God is female – because God is spirit.

But it means: The Bible recognizes this life-giving, nourishing, comforting dimension of God.

Many women miss this aspect in their faith life.

But the Bible shows:

God comforts like a mother.

God gathers his chicks like a hen gathers her chicks.

God nourishes, sustains, and protects.

The Ruach is the presence of God that envelops , permeates , and heals us.

God's protection – The spiritual "firewall"

We live in a time full of voices, fears, and confusion.

Not everything that is loud is true.

Not everything that feels good is good.

That is why God has not left us unprotected.

One could say: He himself is our spiritual firewall.

Yeshua – the guard of your heart

He says:

"I am the door."

Not for monitoring purposes.

But to open the door for his sheep .

God's Ten Commandments were not given to restrict, but to protect.

They are not walls – they are railings.

The Ruach – the Inner Guardian

The Ruach works like an inner protective presence.

She warns.

She checks.

She brings peace.

Not loud.

But faithful.

Like a mother gently pulling her child back

before it runs into the street.

God’s Boundaries Are Boundaries of Love

A child without boundaries is not free – but endangered.

The same is true spiritually.

God's truth protects.

God's word clarifies.

God's Spirit leads.

A God Who Will Not Let You Go

YHWH – the Eternal

Yeshua – Savior, King, High Priest, and Bridegroom

Ruach haKodesh – God’s breath within you

This is not a system.

This is relationship.

No coercion.

No fear.

No service.

But:

Closeness.

Faithfulness.

Guidance.

Love.
